The upcoming COP30 is expected to be one of the most consequential climate conferences, with Parties being asked to set ambitious climate targets and the EU planning to send a signal of European leadership.

To successfully assume this leadership role, the EU’s growing bioeconomy will be crucial in the green transition while also contributing to the bloc’s competitiveness by offering alternative and innovative solutions. To combat climate change, carbon must be sequestered. From forest sinks via carbon in products to biogenic carbon storage and use, the forest-based bioeconomy sector has a significant role in helping the EU reduce its emissions.

This event will serve to present long-term scenarios of the forest-based bioeconomy sector’s potential contribution to reduce carbon emissions in the EU.
