Case Study
Live Light

Live Light

Live Light was born as a new, innovative business model for the furniture industry to fit within the circular economy. The company offers furniture subscription services to both end consumers and professionals such as Offices, Hotels and Events. Live Light is a spin-off of the Ethnicraft Group. The end goal of Live Light is to close the loop towards a more sustainable and circular economy. This means that the furniture and accessories will be (re)used and (re)loved repeatedly, refurbished when needed, and ultimately recycled into new designs. For this reason, Live Light believes in products with thoughtful, timeless designs, made of high-quality materials, that can last for generations.

Potential future developments

In the future, we would like to invest further in the research & development of re-usable and eco-friendly packaging solutions. Solutions that would protect well and require less packing time. It is still very labour intensive today.

There is an ambition to expand the  product offering to include  a broader range of (circular) furniture designs, with a greater variety in style and applications across other sectors and markets. This expansion will also require us the development of further expertise within theteam to repair and refurbish different types of materials.

Current contribution

As part of the Ethnicraft Group, Live Light has full control over the (re)design, production, distribution, refurbishing and recycling processes.

  • Their sofas and textiles undergo professional, eco-friendly cleaning with anti-microbial treatments.
  • Wooden furniture surfaces are refreshed, sanded, and revarnished or oiled as needed, ensuring the next customer receives the items sparkling clean, fresh and as good as new.

After they have been rented out, each piece of furniture is cleaned & repaired in Live Light’s workshop.

The company drives its competitiveness from maximising resource use (wood), while also creating local employment and training in expert repairs.
