Caima GoGreen (BioProducts & Energy)
Potential future developments
This model can be replicated across EU pulp and paper industries, enabling sector-wide decarbonisation. Increased production of green energy and biochemicals would create regional jobs, attract sustainable investments, and reinforce the EU’s energy transition strategy.
Current contribution
By eliminating fossil fuels and operating entirely on renewable biomass, Caima is one of Europe’s first 100% renewable pulp plants. This enhances energy security, supports local biomass markets, and reduces CO₂ emissions. It also provides a foundation for new specialty bioproducts (e.g., acetic acid, furfural), demonstrating leadership in integrated bio-refinery concepts.
